21st March 2008 Annual General Body meeting of Central Zone (South) was held at CTO Hall on 19/03/08 at 16:00 hrs with the presence of State President, State Secretary, CHQ/SHQ Office Bearers and CWC members, most of the Z/Ss & Zonal office bearers of Calcutta based zones and other members of the concerned zone. 

Com R.N.Mondal,SDE/MM/Circlr Office/WBTC as Zonal President, Com P.K.Roy, JTO/TPl./Circle Office/WBTC as Zonal Secretary & Com S.K. Ganguly, SDE/Vig./Circle Office/WBTC as Treasurer are elected for the next term.

10th March 2008 Annual General Body meeting of Durgapur Zone was held at Durgapur City Centre Building on 08/03/08. CHQ Office bearers  (Com. R. Sen & Com. S. Dey Choudhury), State Secretary, State President, VP/SHQ (Com. N. Biswas), Org. Secy./CTD, Asstt. Secy./Circle, CWC member( Com. A. Mondal) and most of the beloved members of Durgapur Zone attended the meeting. Zonal Secretaries /Zonal office bearers of Burdwan, Bankura & Asansol zone attended the meeting. All the zonal secretaries present in the meeting along with Com. Sunil Gorai, Divisional Secretary of BSNLEU/Durgapur addressed the house in the open session on recent burning issues related to existence & development of BSNL. State Secretary & State President also addressed the meeting. 

Com. A.T. Banerjee & Com. Ujjal Maji are elected as Zonal President & Zonal Secretary of Durgapur Zone for the next term.

8th March 2008 The most respected father of our beloved General Secretary expired on 7th March, 2008 . All the  members of the SNEA (I) WB State branch pay their respectful homage to the departed soul. We are extremely morose for his departure & we all together convey our condolence to the members of  the bereaved family.

6th March 2008 State Secretary, South Bengal Or. Secy, Asstt. Secy. Circle & CWC member ( Com. A. Mondal) met GM/OP/WBTC & had a discussion on the following issues:-

i)  Prayer transfer cases of SDEs/JTOs,

ii) SDE officiating arrangement

iii) Implementation of Time-bound promotional policy etc.

5th March 2008 State office bearers meeting with Calcutta based zonal secretaries was held at Association Office (RCH) at 5 pm to discuss some issues related to development of CTD & WBTC.

27th Feb 2008 A meeting was held between PGM(O)/CTD and Jt. Forum of Executives & Non-executives Associations/unions on 26/02/08 regarding formation of committee for Dispersion Analysis of churning of PSTN line in CTD. Other important issues submitted by Jt. forum to CTD Management were also discussed.

22nd Feb 2008 Central Convention related to indefinite strike from 26/02/08 was held at Durgapur (City Exch. Bldg. at 12 am) & Assansole (Rabindra hall at 4pm) on 21/02/08. The state level & concerned zonal level leaders and beloved members of all the Executive and Non-executive Associations/Unions of BSNL attended the said convention. State Secretary and other eminent leaders of other associations/unions addressed the meeting in presence of hundreds of BSNL employees at both the places. 

22nd Feb 2008 Minutes of the meeting held on 19.2.08 under the chairmanship of secretary (T) with CMD BSNL and representatives of joint forum unions/associations of non-executives and executives to discuss the issues raised by them in the notice of strike for 26.2.08 ->->>>>>>>>>>>

In view of the above the Joint Forum has decided to defer the strike on 26.2.08. Congratulations to one and all on the solidarity shown by Joint Forum.

20th Feb 2008 General body meeting of Central Zone was held at CTO Hall on 19/02/08 at 5 pm. Zonal Secretary addressed the meeting on zonal activities, members' quarries & announced the date, time and venue of AGBs of trifurcated C/Z (Central/South, Central/City, Central/North).  State Secretary and other state office bearers attended the meeting. State Secretary addressed the meeting on recent CHQ/SHQ developments.

14th Feb 2008 Management cum Development meeting of WBTC with SSA heads and representatives of unions/associations was held on 13/02/08 at circle conference room at 11:00 hrs. On behalf of our association state secretary and Asstt. state secretary/circle attended the meeting and participated in the discussion of following agenda:-

i) Planning, Broadband & Netwark Coordination

ii) Mobile & Transmission

iii) Marketing & Customer care

iv) Operation & Administration.

12th Feb 2008 General body meeting of NE Zone was held at Kashipur Exch. Building on 08/02/08 at 5 pm and about one hundred members were present in the meeting. Zonal Secretary addressed the meeting on zonal activities and members' quarries. Com. Rupak Sen, AGS/CHQ, State Secretary, State Treasurer, Com. S.P.Majumder/VP/SHQ attended the meeting. AGS/CHQ & State Secretary addressed the meeting on recent CHQ/SHQ developments.

8th Feb 2008 Central Convention related to indefinite strike from 26/02/08 was held at University Centenary Hall on 07/02/08 at 4:30 pm. All the eminent leaders of different trade unions, Com. V.A.N. Namboodri/ Convener of Jt. Forum, CHQ and all the state level/zonal levels leaders and beloved members of all the Executive and Non-executive Associations/Unions of BSNL attended the said convention. Com. Namboodri and other eminent leaders addressed the meeting in presence of hundreds of BSNL employees. Eminent leaders from different unions extended their support to the BSNL employees for their indefinite strike from 26/02/08.

5thFeb 2008 A meeting was held between the Management of CTD and Jt. Forum of Non-executive and Executive Unions/Associations on 04/02/08 in the Conference room of Telephone Bhawan. On behalf of our association State President and South Bengal Organizing Secretary attended the meeting. The agenda of discussion:-

i) Total no. of Land/Mobile/WLL/BB & service quality

ii) Present position of STD/ISD PCOs

iii) BTS status & maintenance 

iv) Server problems

v) Cable theft

vi) Billing problem

vii) Customer care

viii) Wasteful expenditure.  

3rd Feb 2008 Emergency State Executive Committee Meeting of SNEA(I), WB State Branch was held at CTO Hall on 02/02/08. Following issues are discussed in the meeting:-

i) Placement of High Power Committee recommendation and the  recommendation was approved by the house.

ii) Ensuing State Conference.

iii) Brief on United Forum meeting at Hyderabad on 7th & 8th Jan '08.

iv) Organizational preparation for ensuing agitational programme (Indefinite strike from 26/02/08) & others.

30th Jan 2008 Joint Forum of BSNL state level Unions/Associations of Non- executives & Executives was held at CTO union room regarding Central Convention at Kolkata, related to indefinite strike from 26/02/08. It was decided in the meeting that central convention will be held at University Centenary Hall on 07/02/08 at 4:30 pm. All trade union leaders of different unions belonging to other establishments are invited to attend the said convention. All state office bearers, CWC members, Zonal office bearers and other activists are requested to attend the meeting.

  25th Jan 2008 Centralised Lunch Hour Demonstration regarding indefinite strike from 26/02/08 was observed by Joint Forum of BSNL at Telephone Bhawan & Circle Office on 24/01/08.

25th Jan 2008 State Level Joint Forum meeting was held at CTO Hall at 16:30 hrs on 24/01/08 regarding future course of organizationalaction to make the indefinite strike from 26/02/08 a grand success. It was decided in the meeting that a centralized convention related to indefinite strike will be held on 08/02/08 in Kolkata . Venue qill be intimated later on. On behalf of our association State Secretary, Asstt. Circle Secretary, Asstt. Treasurer, CWC Member ( Com. A. Mondal) attended the said meeting. 18th Jan 2008 Joint forum meeting of West Bengal State level (including CTD & WBTC along with Non-recruiting Circles & Telecom Factory) is held on 18/01/08 at CTO Union room. Representatives of all Unions & Associations are present in the meeting and expressed their views regarding disinvestment of 10% equity of BSNL & other issues and related trade union programmes called by joint forum of BSNL executives/non- executives at CHQ level. Following decisions have been taken in the meeting:-

i) Lunch hour demonstration at all Exchange buildings in CTD on 21st Jan. '08.  

ii) Venue of Lunch hour demonstration on 21st Jan.'08 at SSA level   will be decided by SSA level joint forum.

iii) Notice of "Indefinite Strike" from 26th Feb.'08 will be served to all CGMs by the Joint Forum leadership on 24th Jan.'08.

iv) In between 24/01 to 26/02, a Central Convention will be held at Kolkata regarding said issues by joint forum.

    All Zonal Secretaries are requested to take appropriate organizational preparation along with joint forum to make the programme a grand success.

16th Jan 2008 Joint forum of BSNL executives/non executives decides: 

* Real testing time for one and all in BSNL committed to growth of BSNL and safeguard and protect it from being sold.

 * Expose and defeat the agents of vested interests in and outside the government determined to sell BSNL to the vested interests.

 * Lunch hour demonstration at all the levels on 21st Jan., 08 and indefinite strike from 26th Feb.,08.  

* Joint forum of executives and non executives decides to go in for indefinite strike w.e.f 26th Feb.,08 to defeat the sinister move of the government to disinvest its 10% equity in BSNL to thus pave the way towards gradual but definite privatization of BSNL. Make complete organizational preparation at all the levels to make indefinite strike from 26 th Feb. 08, total at all the levels to safeguard and protect BSNL from being sold to vested interests by the govt.

 * Lunch hour demonstration at all the levels on 21st Jan.,08 must be made completely successful to register our immediate strongest protest against calculated move and conspiracy of the government to mortgage BSNL by handing it over to vested interests on a platter and at a pittance.

 * Other issues to be focussed are; Viability of BSNL:-

(continued payment of ADC, USO fund, licence fees reimbursement), Procurement of GSM equipment, Withdrawal of order of 16th June, 2007 of DOT regarding liability of government for payment of pension to absorbed employees in BSNL, Navratna status, Immediate absorption of ITS Gr A and abandoning of introduction of VRS

All State office bearers, CWC members, Zonal Secretaries, Zonal office bearers & activists are requested to take complete organizational preparation at grass root levels to make LUNCH HOUR DEMONSTRATION ON 21/01/08 and INDEFINITE STRIKE from 26 th Feb. 08, a grand success for protection of BSNL from being sold to vested interests by the govt.

15th Jan,2008 State Secretary, Org. Secy./South, Asstt. Secy./Circle met GM/OP/ WBTC on 15/01/08 and had a prolong discussion on the following issues:-

i) Issuances of SDE nomenclature of WBTC

ii) SDE officiating arrangement

iii) DE officiating arrangement

iv) Implementation of Time-bound promotion policy

v) Transfer cases

vi) Reversion cases & some other issues.

Option regarding SDE officiating in WBTC will be called for shortly. All Zonal Secretaries in WBTC are requested to send the missing ACRs of the executives to Circle Office immediately for implementation of time-bound promotional policy. Details of missing ACRs of the executives are already put in SANCHARIKA.

12th Jan,2008 United Forum organised its 1st meeting of the CHQ Office Bearers and State/ Circle Secretaries  with the constituent executive Associations on 7th & 8th January, 2008 at Hydarabad. From West Bengal VP/CHQ, AGS/CHQ, State Secretary/WB attended the said conference at Hydarabad. 

12th Jan,2008 It is understood that Ministry of Finance has given its concurrence to the proposal of DPE to merge 50% IDA with basic. The proposal is likely to be placed before the cabinet for its necessary approval very shortly. This is a major breakthrough.
